Overall positions in the series will be based on the best 5 events, three of which must be triathlon events. In addition there will be prizes for the highest accumulated points across all events in the series. For points towards IRC selection – only triathlon events will be considered - please see the separate IRC Series Page for more details.
Points are calculated based on the winning time with the winner receiving 10000 points. Subsequent results are calculated by dividing the winning time by the recorded time for all other athletes and multiplying the result by 10000 (eg winner 18mins 10000pts, 2nd 18 minutes 36 would receive 9677 points 18 mins divided by 18m 36s x 10000=9677).
If a race is cancelled or is deemed not to have met the level of quality that we require from a race then the committee have the right to amend the rules and the number of qualifying races.
Prizes for the top 3 male and female in each age group will be awarded at the end of the series at the Annual Presentation Event.
The series results will be published here.
Inter Regional Championships 2016 (IRC's)
The IRC's comprise a weekend of racing by regional teams from throughout the UK. Each region takes a team of 12 athletes from Tri2 and Tri3 categories (3 male and 3 female athletes from each age group). This year the event is to be held at the Strathclyde Country Park, Glasgow over the weekend of 3rd and 4th September 2016.
To qualify for the 2016 IRC Yorkshire team athletes must either live within the Yorkshire area or be a current member of a Yorkshire Triathlon registered club. The following races from the Yorkshire Junior Series will be qualifying races for the IRC team, together with a race out of region:
- York Junior Triathlon, 29th May
- Wakefield Junior Triathlon, 26 June
- Ripon Junior Triathlon, 10th July
- Holmfirth Junior Triathlon, 17th July
- Additional junior triathlon, out of region - details to be confirmed
Points awarded through the Yorkshire Junior Triathlon series will be used as part of IRC selection with athletes highest 3 scores from the above races counting towards IRC selection. We are hoping to include a non regional race as a qualifying race again this year although the details are yet to be confirmed by the race organisers. It is likely that this race will be draft legal. Points for the draft legal race will be calculated on a similar basis as the Yorkshire series, although the fastest Yorkshire athlete will score 12,500 points and all subsequent Yorkshire athletes points being a percentage of the fastest Yorkshire athlete. The points for this race are higher as the race will be draft legal and include a wide range of talented athletes from other regions, many of whom are likely to be representing their regions at the IRC finals in Glasgow in September.
The highest scoring 2 male and female athletes in each category from the above races will automatically qualify for the IRC's. The remaining place in each category will be selected by the Regional Committee. The decision of the Regional Committee is final.
The IRC's will again be run in conjunction with the Under 20's festival. It will be another fantastic event with top class racing at the venue used for the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
